the TSI. Who does not take the TSI?: Student has met the minimum college readiness on ACT, SAT, or other state test. Student has completed college-level math and English. Student is not seeking a degree. Student is in the military. Student is in a Level-One certificate program (with fewer than 43 semester hours.) WHAT IS THE TSI?
2 A multiple-choice test administered by computer. Each section, reading, writing, and math, is taken separately.
Writing: essay of 300-600 words. It is not timed. You may stop, save the work, and complete it within the next 14 days. The assessment results are given immediately after completion. Contact the Counselor to arrange to take the TSI. Tell Counselor if you need accommodations for disabilities. HOW IS THE TSI ADMINISTERED?
3 HOW IS THE TSI SCORED? 4 It is a diagnostic test, no pass or fail. Texas Coordinating Board has determined cut-off scores for college readiness, changing annually. The TSI is computer adaptive: a students response determines de difficulty level of the next question.
Answering correctly, the next one will be harder. Answering incorrectly, the next one will be easier. Essay is scored 8 0: Clarity of purpose Organization Coherence Focus Demonstration of critical thinking Strength or argument and development Sentence variety Style
