Presumptuou s Sins LEV. 10:1-3 Psalm 19:1-14 Are You (We) Guilty of

Presumptuous Sins? Lev. 10:1-3 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. 2 And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

3 Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace. Who were Nadab and Abihu? Aarons sons. Lev. 10:1 Who was Aaron? Gods High Priest What sin did the two boys commit? Offered strange fire Unto the Lord. Lev. 10:1-2

(God had designated Where the fire was to be taken from) What was their sin? The Sin of Presumption! Psalms 19:1-14 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth

knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the

testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. 13 Keep back thy servant also from

presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. (from great transgression) NKJV; NIV;

What are presumptuous sins? Adjective: of a person or their behavior..failing to observe the limits of what is permitted or appropriate. Synonyms: Brazen/overconfident/arrogant/bold/audacious/

forward/familiar/impertinent/insolent/impudent cocky/rude/impolite/uncivil/bumptious/sassy To presume something is to have our minds made Up before the evidence is offered. ..Reason why evidence is presented in a court

of law before one is judged. ..No judge should pronounce a person guilty before he hears his case. Another way to consider presumptuous is to view it as assuming what you may want to hear or you presume to speak on behalf of someone else.

This is where you think In your mind what they might do in a situation and act according to what you thought and not what was actually done, or would be done. Many people presume that God Will change His mind in the judgment.

But the Bible teaches us this about God. 1. God is the same Mal. 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed Same with Jesus. Hebrews 13:88 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. 2. It teaches that God is faithful. Psalm 86:15; Psalm 119:90; I Cor. 10:13; I Cor. 1:9; Heb. 10:23 Lamentations 3:22-23 22 It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 3. The Bible teaches that God is love. Yes, God says in His Word that God Is Love. I John 4:8 He that loveth not, knoweth notGod, for God is love. Some people presume that

surely God would not punish someone who does not obey Him. But, But, 4. The Bible teaches us that God is a consuming fire. Deuteronomy 4:24 For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

Hebrews 12:2929 For our God is a consuming fire. And God warns people not to be caught in His wrath! Psalm 19:11 By your teachings, Lord, I am warned: by obeying them,I am greatly rewarded 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. We need not to presume what God might do if we do something our way, and not His way.

When we do not follow Gods instructions, we have been warned, and we will deserve the punishment God deals to all of us who do not obey Him! Catchy phrases we sometimes hear: 1. Surely God would not punish someone for this sin or that.. 2. God did not say not to, so it must be alright 3. Well, it seems to me (No scripture: dont do it Jerm.10:23;

Prov. 14:12; Prov. 16:25 We must follow Gods Word and not be guilty Of presuming our ways are alright. Speak where God speaks Remain Silent where God is silent. 1. We know that God does not want anyone to perish.

Why do we know that? (2 Pet 3:9) 2. We know that God wants everyone to repent. Why do we know that? (Acts 17:30,31) 3. We know that God says that we must endure to The end to be saved. Why do we know that? (Rev. 2:10) We know that presumptuous sins will cause us To be lost. Why do we know that?

Psalm 19:13 Keep back thy servant from presumptuous sins Why? That we be not guilty of the great transgression. Presumptuous Sins are referred to As the great transgression Dont be a daring person. A shameless and

irreverent Individual. Dont over-step due bounds! Dont take liberties. The Great Transgression is when we Are guilty of rebellion! Presumptuous sins were so serious, and of great magnitude That some sins were punishable by death.

Look at Gods Examples! 1. Cain. Gen. 4:1-15 Rejected because he presumed hisSacrifice would be as good as what God said to offer.Punishment: He was separated from God in the garden. 2. Moses. Numbers 20:7-12 Spoke so as topresume That God would accept him doing something his way (Moses)Punishment: He could not enter the Promised land.

3. Nadab and Abihu. Lev. 10:1-7 Offered strange fire toGod. Punishment: Immediate death .4. Man picked up sticks on Sabbath. Numbers 15:3036 Penalty for violating the law of the Sabbath! 5. . Uzzah. 2 Sam. 6:1-11 Put forth his hand to stay the Ark. Punishment: Death. 6. Israel. Deuteronomy 1:42-4642 And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them. Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies. 43 So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the

commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill. 44 And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah. 45 And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you. 46 So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there. What about Examples today?

1. God says: Baptism is essential to salvation. Mark16:15-16. Some men overstep,takes undue liberty, presumes and states: baptism is not Necessary to salvation. 2. God says that baptism is a burial. Not sprinkling, Not Pouring, but a burial. Some men overstep, takes Undue liberty, presumes and states: You can be Baptized by sprinkling or pouring. Rom. 6:4;Col.2:12

3. Gods Word teaches that faith only will not save. James 2:24 Man oversteps : Man presumes that one can be Saved by faith only, or all one has to do to be saved Is just believe. 4. God says that all the saved are added by the Lord to His church (Acts 2:47) Man presumes..and says, you Can be saved and never be a member of the church. 5. God says there is ONLY ONE church! Eph. 4:1-4; 1:22-23

Man says (presumes) that one can select the church of his/her choice! 6. God says we are to sing in worship to Him. Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16. Man says (and presumes ) that it is sing and play; play an instrument Why did David pray to God and asked God to keep him from presumptuous sin?the danger of it.

He knew He knew that it was the great transgression (great transgression) Because of the very nature of the sin. It is the presumption For weak, puny, sinful, finite man to contrarily speak and act When the infinite, holy, and almighty God hath spoken. Because it harden the heart. Presumptuous sins persisted in will eventually, if not rapidly, sear the conscience And harden the heart. Rebellion against Gods Word will

cause one to be Lost. (King SaulI Sam. 15:22,23 - cf. John 12:48) Someone has said: "The closer a man is to God, the more attention he is to pay to holiness and the glory of God.

[13] By this, Moses surely inferred that Nadab and Abihu should certainly have known better than to act so presumptuously. Gods Word Warns us: Psalm 19:11 1. Warning is needed for sins we are succeptible to Heb. 12:1-2 (Our besetting sins!) 2. Warning is needed for dangers we cannot see

3. Warning is needed for dangers we cannot appreciate 4. Warning is needed for dangers far off in the future 5. Warnings are often REJECTED! JUST AS I AM I come broken to be mended I come wounded to be healed I come desperate to be rescued I come empty to be filled

I come guilty to be pardoned By the blood of Christ the Lamb And I'm welcomed with open arms Praise God, just as I am Praise God, just as I am Just as I am I am coming Lord. Will you come with me?
